x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

Sabrina Chevannes is a serial entrepreneur and best-selling author. She is primarily the founder & CEO of Complex Creative, the No Bullsh*t Agency, and she hosts their podcast No Bullsh*t Talks.
Sabrina is also an International Chess Master and coaches students from all over the world.
She also teaches digital marketing at Birmingham City University and is one of the lecturers on PowerMBA’s Digital Marketing MBA.Sabrina sits on BIMA’s Sustainability Council and Creative Council, and is the Co-Chair of the DMA’s Social Media Council.
How
TEDX SHOREDITCH
was born
Sabrina was approached to do three different TEDx talks, all with completely different themes, but each of the organisers had one thing in common…
They all put Sabrina into a “box” – they wanted to her to play a particular character. They suggested topics that she wasn’t comfortable with and expected her to do a talk on beliefs that were not even her own.
This really infuriated her, as she believed that TEDx talks should not be like that.This inspired Sabrina to run her own TEDx event and weirdly enough, her local Shoreditch name was not taken!
It was also absolutely ideal for her theme of choice – Be True To Who You Are.
Sabrina wants to run an event that makes her speakers and her audience feel the exact opposite of how she felt when asked to do those talks.
